CASE is a coalition of over 120 non-governmental organisations from across Europe and beyond united in the fight against Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPPs).

The Media Freedom Rapid Response (MFRR) is a Europe-wide mechanism that tracks, monitors and reacts to press and media freedom violations in EU member states and candidate countries.

The MFRR project, co-funded by the European Commission, provides legal support, practical support, and public advocacy to protect journalists and media workers and advance press freedom. The project partners are ARTICLE 19 Europe, the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ), Free Press Unlimited (FPU), the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF), the International Press Institute (IPI) and the Osservatorio Balcani e Caucaso Transeuropa (OBCT). Until April 2022, the Institute for Applied Informatics of the University of Leipzig was also a project partner.

Media pluralism and press freedom are the backbone of democratic societies. Without them, citizens cannot make informed, meaningful choices. But press freedom is not self-sustaining – it requires constant vigilance and sound policy to uphold it. At the CMPF, we carry out research on the state of the media across Europe and beyond to support evidence-based policymaking, disseminate knowledge, and equip media professionals with the tools, training, and networks needed to strengthen their role in democracy. To safeguard its full independence from political or commercial influence, the Centre for Media Pluralism and Media Freedom does not accept funding from national governments or private companies. The Centre is co-funded by the European Union.
